There were two very
early printings of this poster, one of which was printed before the shows,
and the other just after. The posters are distinguishable, but it is
not known which was printed first. Both carry "The Bindweed Press,
San Francisco" printing credit. We therefore consider any FD 35 with
the Bindweed credit an original, and there are two variations as follows.
The red ink on this original poster is a pure red color (we will call it
Type A).
The red ink on this poster is more of a brick red color (we will call it
Type B).
Both original posters were printed on vellum paper stock, and measure
approx. 14" X 20", and most are the victim of minor printing flaws.
If you buy a FD 35 poster on our website, we will send you a Type A.
If you are interested in a Type B poster, please send us an email or give
us a call.
The third print poster, an authorized reprint, was printed on uncoated
index paper stock, and measures approx. 14" X 20". It bears
the notation "No. 35-3" in the lower left corner, and does not carry the
Bindweed printing credit. This poster was most probably printed in 1967,
but no later than 1968.
This poster was forged in the early 1970's. This
unauthorized/bootleg poster bears a "San Francisco Poster Co." printing
credit above the left side of the ticket outlets strip.
The original handbill was printed prior to the shows on very thin paper.
It measures approx. 8 1/2" X 11" |
